Public Toilets

On using the public toilets in the Tate Modern this morning I was struck by what a phenomenon the styling of these facilities to project a desired image has become. So i was wondering how much can the loos really say about a place? So i'm going to start photographing them to make some comparisons and see if they realise their full potential!!

A friend from New York was telling me about some toilets with clear doors, as you bolt the door they become opaque. People stare at them nervously and go in tentatively before they realise this. She said an English friend of hers went to the loo and didn't bolt the door ("what's the point if people can see you anyway?") she didn't realise that they'd frost over and just thoughtn it was some odd NYC trend!!!!
